You could fit -60mm springs, but they won't last long and it wont handle well.

they'd handle -30-40mm springs alright providing they're ok condition, but you're still better off with aftermarket shorter dampers

i've cut springs on a polo to around -70ish. was fine. handled amazing, and looked awsome, however they lasted a few weeks, untill the leaked badly but still worked. but they were old 90k standard polo shocks.

There's no point in trying to take short cuts in doing stuff to your suspension. Its kind of a major part for the safety of the car

Plus as stated above, it won't last very long, and won't perform as it should.

Why waste time and money trying to bodge it to go lower, you get what you pay for.

Ive lowered my mk1 by cutting the springs on the rear, i dont get what all the fuss is about really. i mean i wouldnt want to do it too low on a daily, but for a bit of fun its fine. i think its about 80-90mm lower. Havnt had any leaking problems, but then again i only drive it about once a fort night, if that.
I think its advised that you only go around 35mm lower max on standard springs though.
