Basically I'm thinking of fitting a quaife quick rack to my mk1 but before i buy one i'm just wondering what's involved and how hard it is etc. If anyone could give me some advice it would be much appreciated
Cheers Dan

easy as pie

i would put in some new tie rods on too, along with new boots

if you have a gen VW rack its a swap for swap, if you have an aftermarket / aptern rack you will need a reducer for the new bearing

do a search on quaife rack as mk1mark has put up some how to's on fitting a quaife rack :D

quick racks are ok.

but power steering on a mk1 is ace!

its easy to get it up and running for the same price as a quick rack. and its nice to add a bit more refinement to the mk1.

fitted mine a couple of months ago :)

Holy post revival, I know... But is this a worth while modification? Is it worth the £150 to just gain having to turn the wheel less? Only ask as I'm currently putting my rack back together, and thought whilst its apart to see whether this quick rack was worth it or not?
