iv just noticed my oil light is coming on on the dash, this has only started today, iv checked the oil level and its on max, only does it on the move and not on tick over, im really worried, mk2 golf 8v gti, can any1 help me please??

guessing the pump is on its way out

its weird cause iv just gone back out for another drive, i let the engine cool right down, got in started it and drove as normal for about 5-10 mins and nothing!!! didnt even flicker once!!!

il get a new pump just for piece of mind but do you have any idea if they are a bugger to fit and could it be costly??

check your pressure with a guage before you start thinking about changing your pump as they're not cheap! it could just be a dodgy sender/wiring.

If the light on the dash is coming on and theirs no buzzer sounding, then it will more than likely be the sender in the side of the head.

iv got both, i get the buzzing with the light flashing as i hit 2500rev in any gear and today iv had the light coming on when i accelerate, would u mind telling me where i can find this sending unit, im shit with cars so could you please be specific

If you have the buzzer coming on then get a pressure gauge hooked up as suggested in this thread http://www.swdubs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3006

If the pressure checks out ok then can look at a wiring/sender problem.
