Alt rebuild
You may want to give the case a bit of a clean up now, I used one of those wire wheel things that go in the end of the drill. Because of my earlier incident I also had the band and rectifier out the rear of the case so decided to spray the band as it was looking a bit rusty and clean the back of the case up too.

The altenator in bits.
If you want to remove the band part and the rectifier which is the black piece that’s screwed into the back of the case. You'll need to tap the band out again but be careful as their are wires attached to the rectifier behind. You need to tap it out so you can get to the screws that hold the rectifier in place. I'd had all the wires bar one of mine already disconnected from the previous incident so It made it a little easier.
You will also then find the slip ring for the rear bearing, once the rectifier has been removed. Take care not to break it.
I think I read somewhere that even new bearings don't come with enough grease from the factory, so decided to investigate this when the new ones arrived.
Popped the seal of the larger front one.
You can see theirs some grease missing, I had a tube of bearing grease So filled both the bearings up and put the seals back on. You may want to do this you may not
